It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Harold Gilchrist, who was surrounded by his family at the CHUS Fleurimont on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the age of 81.
Harold was the beloved son of the late Herbert Gilchrist and the late Dorothy Stevens. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dianne Laramée, and his children Linda (Brent Cairns) and Patrick (Kathryn Standish). He was a devoted Grandpa to Jeffrey Cairns, Jordan Schoolcraft, and Cole Schoolcraft.
He will be missed by his siblings: John (Lee-Ann St-Onge), Judy (the late Albert McBean), Heather, Robert (Cheryl Gosselin), Richard (Carolyn Leonard), and his late sister Joan Gilchrist. Harold will also be mourned by his late brother-in-law Michel (late Brenda McHarg), sister-in-law Sylvie (the late Claude Larochelle), brother-in-law Jacques, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation followed by a celebration of Harold’s life will be held at the Steve L. Elkas Complex (4230, rue Bertrand-Fabi, Sherbrooke) on Saturday, September 28 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a luncheon.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the CHUS Fleurimont Emergency and Intensive Care Units. Special gratitude is given to Dr. Mathieu Hylands and nurse Charlotte for their compassionate and professional care of Harold.
As a memorial tribute, donations can be made to the Fondation du CHUS.
