MAGNUS POIRIER INC.It's with heavy hearts and sadness that the Scuccimarri family announces the peaceful passing of their beloved Pietro Scuccimarri on February 7th, 2024, at the age of 89.
Pietro was born on May 3rd, 1934, in Sannicandro di Bari, Italy to the late Rosa Novielli and late Francesco Saverio Scuccimarri. He was the 1st born of 7 children and a father figure to his siblings, Santa (late Giuseppe), Andrea (late Teresa), Luigi (Anna), late Lorenzo (Carmela), Martin (Mary) and Jackie. He was also preceded by his brothers-in-law, late Pepino (late Nina) and late Pierino (late Antonietta).
In 1952, Pietro left Italy at almost 18 years old. He was a hard-working man, who began his journey in Toronto working in construction. He then moved to Montreal, where he opened his 1st restaurant, Colosseo, and later pursued his career as a Head Chef at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel. Thereafter, he started reception halls and retired with Buffet Colosseo in RDP.
Pietro leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Lina, whom he was married to for sixty-three years. He was a father with a heart of gold to Rosanna (Peter), Sam (Nietta), Nick, and Mauro. He will be missed by his 5 grandsons, James (Elyssa), Charles (Elyssa), Peter, Joseph, and Markus. He will also be greatly missed by his 5 great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Mason, Eva, Lia, and Charli.
He was loved by his many relatives and friends from all over, including his nieces and nephews in Montreal, Edmonton, and Italy.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Jewish General Hospital for the care he received. They also want to thank Father Paul for making a special trip to the hospital to give Pietro a last blessing.
Viewing will take place on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Magnus Poirier Funeral Complex, 10300 Bd Pie-IX, Montreal, H1H 3Z1.
The Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Mission Maria Ausiliatrice, 8500 Av. Joliot Curie, Montreal, H1E 4C3, thence to Le Repos St-François D'Assise Cemetery (Padre Pio Mausoleum) at 11:30am 6893 Sherbrooke St E., Montreal, H1N 1C7
